The nutrition and diet therapy department is a unit of the hospital that plays a very important role in the prevention and treatment of diseases, and the nutritionist as a member of the treatment team, along with other team members, plays an important role in meeting the nutritional needs (macro and micronutrients) of patients. In this regard, the nutritionist receives information about the patient’s diet from the department, including the type of disease, weight, height, appetite, and tests to meet the patient’s nutritional needs and monitor its effect on the treatment path.

After controlling the type of diet of the patients and considering the food based on the menu selected by the patient, the calorimetry of the food and the completion of the food labels are carried out. Ensuring that the patients follow the diet according to the type of disease and the doctor’s order is a matter that is done by controlling the supervision carried out by the nutritionist and it is very effective in improving the patient and progressing the treatment process.

Among the other activities that are carried out in the nutrition unit by the nutrition expert are as follows:
